What’s the difference between Time Clocks and Bundy Clocks? PDF Print E-mail

When it comes to your time and attendance solution needs, it’s vital to know what’s what to ensure you’re purchasing the right product. Whether you’re a large business or a small local company, there are a range of time and attendance clocks out there that can assist with your operations.

Two such products are Time Clocks and Bundy Clocks. Whilst most could give a brief rundown on what a Time Clock is, Bundy clocks are a different proposition all together.

Bundy Clocks

Bundy clocks take their name from their creator, Willard Bundy, who designed them to keep track of his employees’ clock-in times. Most would recognise a Bundy Clock from old movies where employees would have a timecard that they would insert into a machine to denote when they started and finished their shift. ‘Punching in’ literally referred to the early Bundy Clocks punching a hole in these cards as a means of tracking employee attendance.

The Bundy Clock has now evolved to incorporate electronic measures, but differentiates itself in that it isn’t computerised. Bundy Clocks cannot be integrated with your payroll or work in conjunction with payroll programs such as MYOB.

Time Clocks

Time Clock is the broad terms used for all types of attendance and time clock solutions – including Bundy Clocks. This is usually where the confusion lies, however you can differentiate Time Clocks from Bundy Clocks in that they are completely computerised. Modern Time Clocks provide businesses with a complete software solution for their employee time and attendance requirements, making them perfectly suited to large scale businesses with a broad employee base.
